The Riordan Scholars Program recently hosted the 17th Annual Stock Market Research Analyst Competition at UCLA Anderson. Twelve teams of high school students were asked to present their research and recommendations on 12 different Fortune 500 publicly traded companies. The team representing J Crew was selected by Judges as the winner of the event. Group members included Team Leader Richard Vishnevsky of Daniel Pearl Journalism and Communications Magnet, Aaron Sandoval of Cathedral High School, Amani Odom of Alexander Hamilton High School, Christian Laursen of Loyola High School, and Deborah Han of Notre Dame Academy. Over the past 5 months, the Riordan Scholars have conducted extensive research on companies in the clothing, personal products, music and video, and video games industries. Each team presented a company overview, financial analysis (e.g. EPS, P/E ratio, etc.), and a final buy/sell recommendation of the organization.
